Introduction
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”-A.A. Milner, Winnie-the-Pooh
I am Stephanie Porter (she/her), a mom, a friend, and a therapist. Sometimes the daily challenges of life can cause us to lose our way. Sometimes we need someone unbiased to listen and give practical and mindful solutions. Therapy can serve as a tool to help guide oneself to focus on finding stability vs. attempting to fix something that's not broken. I believe that the healing process works best when the therapist and client work together hand in hand. My goal for our time together would be to become an empathetic safe space where you can be seen, heard, and understood and where you can feel empowered. When you are ready to talk, I am ready to listen. I am looking forward to working with you soon.
What clients say about me
My clients would say they value my ability to create a safe, judgment-free environment where they feel supported and empowered to express themselves. They’d mention that working with me has given them meaningful insights and practical tools to navigate life and enhance their well-being. They’d describe me as someone deeply committed to wellness and mental health advocate.
About Me and My Professional Skills
I’m a graduate from Aurora University with a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University.
I’m currently a Licensed Social Worker with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Outside of my professional work I enjoy spending time with my 8-year-old son who is autistic, exploring nature, traveling to Michigan to spend time with family, baking and building Lego sets.
